What began as a vision is steadily becoming reality: Our educational project in Nanoro, Burkina Faso is progressing – and with it, the hope for a safe and self-determined future for many young people.

Our Commitment in Nanoro Continues to Grow

Since 2020, we have been working alongside our partners to develop a vocational school campus in a region facing difficult conditions. Heavy rainfall, disrupted supply chains due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and political instability have repeatedly challenged progress. That’s why we are all the more pleased to share the latest milestone: construction has started on a security wall nearly one kilometre long, surrounding the entire campus.

The wall will enclose the school, workshops, dormitories, administrative and service buildings – and most importantly, provide a safe environment for the children and young people on site.

A new building for security personnel is also being constructed, ensuring 24/7 protection. In a region where safety cannot be taken for granted, this is a strong sign of stability and long-term perspective.

Sustainability is at the heart of the project

Around 32,000 bricks are being produced just five minutes from the site, hand-cut from a local quarry – without machinery, without CO₂ emissions. The bricks are so dense and durable that no firing process is needed. Twelve local workers are producing them daily, securing income for their families for a full year. But time is of the essence: work must be completed by mid-May, before the rainy season makes further progress impossible.

We believe that education creates opportunity. That’s why our sister company is supporting this project under the patronage of the Evergreen Privatstiftung, as part of our CSR initiative. The implementation is managed by the experienced development organization ICEP and the architectural office ACC/DI Klein, working in close coordination with the mayor of Nanoro.

We are proud to see how collaborative effort, sustainable planning, and local expertise are coming together to create a project that offers real, long-term perspective. Because education goes far beyond the classroom – it protects, empowers, and strengthens. And that’s exactly what we are committed to supporting.
