First planting in the Tomorrow's Forest project: Poieni-Solca, Suceava County
Only a few weeks after its launch, Tomorrow’s Forest had a strong start: more than 21,000 seedlings (fir, spruce, ash, maple and alder) were planted in Poieni-Solca (Suceava County).
The 4.7 ha area is managed by the Solca Forest Management unit. The forest was cut in the '90s and because of the land restitutions, the fragmentation of the property (the high number of owners in the affected area) did not allow the proper management of the land. The forest did not naturally recover and the owners lack the necessary funds for reforestation.
On Saturday, November 11, more than 100 volunteers contributed enthusiastically – locals, high-school and university students from Radauti and Suceava, and Holzindustrie Schweighofer employees from our Radauti sawmill and Siret factory. The plantation will be maintained for 7 years, in order to ensure the healthy development of the forest.

Tomorrow’s Forest is a multi-annual project developed by the Association of Forest Administrators and the University of Suceava, with support from Holzindustrie Schweighofer. The project is a response to the urgent need for reforestation of private lands with regeneration difficulties, and throughout the project 1 million seedlings will be planted.
