Holzindustrie Schweighofer donates wood for the school workshops at the Technical High-School Sebes
On 25 March, Holzindustrie Schweighofer Sebes representatives delivered a sponsorship consisting in timber for the Technical High-School Sebes. Materials for the school workshops and labs are essential for the formation of future professionals, and the company regularly offers wood materials, equipment and instruments for educational and research purposes to partner schools and universities.
“The Technology High School in Sebes is one of the main suppliers of skilled labour in the Sebes area, and such types of partnerships are more than welcome, in a move to improve the educational efforts,! Says Adina-Mixandra Stanciu, the director of the Technology High School in Sebes. “It is not the first time when we conclude such a partnership with Holzindustrie Schweighofer, along the years the company has donated wood for our students to practice on and has supervised and guided them throughout their internships. The involvement of the specialised personnel as well as the financial support that Holzindustrie Schweighofer has offered for different projects can only help the emotional, physical and material wellbeing of our beneficiaries – the students.”
Education is a priority for Holzindustrie Schweighofer and is part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, which includes all current and future actions the company runs in parallel with its economic activity. Supporting the youth – especially towards vocational education and training – is already a tradition for the company, which runs scholarship programmes as well as other forms of support for schools, high schools and universities in several counties all over the country.
“The current generations of students are our future,” adds Holzindustrie Schweighofer Sebes mill manager Emil Pop. “Endeavours as this one have turned into a tradition for us, a tradition which we are proud to continue and encourage each time we get the chance. We are delighted to be able to help training the students, to actively become involved in the life of the community. Thus, we are contributing to developing communities, training the students of today to become responsible adults.”
Holzindustrie Schweighofer supports technology and vocational education though dedicated programmes - which include professional scholarships and extended internships in its factories – at the Technology Colleges in Moinesti (since 2016) and Siret (since 2019). An extended university scholarship programme is addressing students in Forestry and Weed Engineering at the Universities in Brasov, Suceava and Cluj-Napoca and is undergoing since 2014. Sponsorships consisting of wood or educational materials have been offered to several high schools in the countries which are home to Holzindustrie Schweighofer production units, as well as to research laboratories of the abovementioned universities.
