Holzindustrie Schweighofer welcomes the ”Forest Inspector” initiative
Holzindustrie Schweighofer welcomes the ”Forest Inspector” initiative, a project recently launched by the Ministry of Environment Waters and Forests. Such initiatives are welcomed and can only have a positive impact in combating illegal logging. Beyond the additional filter created to verify timber transports, endeavors such as the ”Forest Inspector” have an important role in individual empowerment and engagement in promoting a fair and responsible forestry sector, developed in full respect with and with a sustainable approach towards the environment.
The involvement and solidarity of all stakeholders is required to successfully tackle the phenomenon of illegal logging, which constitutes a real problem. Over the years, Holzindustrie Schweighofer has implemented numerous programs and adopted a code of conduct for wood procurement. All these regulations were implemented to prevent the entry of illegal timber into Holzindustrie Schweighofer factories. Improving these systems is an ongoing concern for our company, along with special projects, such as creating a monitoring system for timber shipments through GPS or RFID chip-based records of trees.
Holzindustrie Schweighofer is interested in actively participating in solutions aimed at limiting the illegal phenomena in the timber industry and strengthening the public understanding and appreciation of the socio-economic roles and benefits of this sector.
