A picnic on the yard lawn, animators, face-painting workshops, outdoor games, a delicious cake and lots of fun: the local community in Reci celebrated today 5 years since the afterschool program started. Nearly 50 children of all ages, teachers, parents, local authorities and Holzindustrie Schweighofer representatives spent a few hours together, remembering the beautiful experiences gathered over time.

The program started in 2013 as a premiere for the Reci community and is housed in “Curia Antos”, a historic building in the center of the village, in the immediate vicinity of the “Antos János” School where children attend classes. The building, with generous spaces both indoors and outdoors, was renovated with the support of the Reci Village Hall, and overhead, children’s meal costs and staff salaries are supported by Holzindustrie Schweighofer, which operates in the area the most modern sawmill in Romania.

“We are proud of this program and we are glad that all the little ones in the village are benefiting, not just the children of our colleagues. They get a warm meal at lunch, they do their homework under supervision, and have enough time for play. Our biggest pride is to look at how they grow every day,” said Adrian Radu, Administrative Director, Holzindustrie Schweighofer Reci.

“For us, taking an active role in community life is very important, social responsibility is a central pillar for our company. We are always happy to help,” added Zsigmond Vucic, Business Development Project Manager, Holzindustrie Schweighofer Reci.

“It is a common project, extremely important for the local community. We are very glad that this year we are celebrating five years since we are running this school after school together,” said Lehel Dombora, Mayor of the Reci community.

The program is carried out in partnership by the Reci Village Hall, the Association for Youth, Sports and Culture in Reci and Holzindustrie Schweighofer. An anniversary movie for the program is now available on the company’s YouTube channel.
