HS Timber Group, one of the leading wood processing companies in Europe, is expanding its portfolio by building a modern sawmill in Svisloch, in the Belarusian region of Grodno. The investment amounts to 84 million Euro. After a three-year lead time, the building permit has been issued and the groundbreaking ceremony takes place on 18 December, 2020. Completion is expected in spring 2022.

In the current expansion stage, the sawmill, processing pine and spruce logs, has an annual sawing capacity of 500,000 m³ of coniferous roundwood. This will correspond to a 10% increase in production. The focus is on further processing and connected pelleting. From the beginning, HS Timber Group will establish a strong and transparent security architecture in the supply chain and will engage in an open and transparent dialogue.

HS Timber Group actively admits its responsibility towards the environment and explicitly commits itself to a Zero Timber from National Parks policy. Only timber from sustainably managed forests is accepted to enter the supply chain. The availability of such raw material is favourable in Belarus. All forestry operations in the country are certified for sustainable forestry.

The projected sawmill in Belarus complements the group’s existing production sites in Germany and Romania. It offers excellent connection to the Polish port of Gdansk. Moreover, the connection to the European and Russian rail systems provides important strategic advantages.

HS Timber Group is a responsible company and acts accordingly in the countries in which the company operates. As a matter of principle, the company acts within the nationally and internationally applicable legal frameworks. In its immediate sphere of influence, i.e. in the company's sawmills and facilities, HS Timber Group ensures compliance with the same high standards everywhere.
