Holzindustrie Schweighofer invests 30 million Euros in its sawmill in Kodersdorf, Germany
Investments in the expansion will create 100 additional jobs in the region
The Austrian Schweighofer Group acquired the sawmill in Kodersdorf, Germany, in 2015 and has been focusing on increasing its production capacity ever since. Today, the sawmill produces lumber and planned timber products which mainly cater to the Japanese and US market. With its 430 employees, the company has also become a significant employer in the region.
Increased value-added, additional jobs
To increase the value addition at the site, Holzindustrie Schweighofer is planning to significantly upgrade the sawmill’s product range. During the next two years, the company will invest around 30 million Euros in further processing and kiln drying. Thus, in addition to lumber and planned timber products, the sawmill in Kodersdorf will also produce glued laminated timber in the future which is especially used in the Japanese housing construction sector.
