HS Timber Productions donates timber for the Sebes Elderly Home

HS Timber Productions continues its partnership with social institutions, as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy.

With the beginning of the New Year, the HS Timber Productions in Sebeș has donates timber for the Elderly Home in the city, which will be used in making reading cabins, as well as benches and swings for the residents of the Elderly Home.

Maria Toca, the director of the Sebeș Elderly Home, details the project: “The reading cabins are a project we want to start in collaboration with the Municipal Library. The library would donate books, and we would place these cabins in public spaces, such as the hospital, the pediatric ward, at the cultural center, at the Citi Hall or in the public park. So thank you very much for everything you have done for us, the ‘grandparents’ who live in the Elderly Home, for understanding out problems and finding a solution to them.”

The establishment in the city in the county of Alba has been functioning in the same location since 1962, employs 22 people and is home to 40 ‘grandparents’ aged between 64 and 86 years.

Ionuț Batîr, mill manager at HS Timber Productions Sebeș said: “we loved the reading cabins project and we decided to support it. It’s like one would encounter mini-libraries in the public space. One could walk through the park and, all of a sudden, escape to a parallel universe, a universe of books, especially in a digital era, when the print book is less and less sought after! This is a very good idea, especially coming from the Elderly Home. No one expected a nursing home to implement a project which addresses the community. We love original ideas and, being part of the community is one of our core principles.”

Good corporate citizenship is one of HS Timber Productions’ (part of HS Timber Group) key principles. Wherever we are active, we strive to become an active member of the local community. Over the years, HS Timber Group supported various social, educational and environmental projects (e.g. renovation of medical facilities and schools, carbon dioxide-neutral heating, disaster relief etc.) with 6.3 million Euro.
